Air Expeditions are one of the last great getaways. A brief flight up and into the heart of the Sierra Madre will take you far from the resorts and tourist centers frequented by most travelers. During the flight, you'll view marvelous sights inaccessible to others -- towering waterfalls, misty mountains carpeted in vegetation, and remote settlements where people still live as they did centuries ago.
The destination of this adventure is the old mining town of San Sebastian -- a beautiful, antiquated village dating back to 1605, tucked away in a deep mountain valley.
Land access to San Sebastian has always been very difficult, with virtually no access at all during the rainy season. Unless you saddle up a mule or make your arduous way there on foot, air travel is the only way to get a glimpse of this isolated settlement.
One of the oldest mining towns in Mexico, San Sebastian reached its peak of prosperity in the 1700s, with over 20,000 inhabitants in the area at that time. Today, San Sebastian remains an outstanding example of how people used to live and work in a remote Mexican mountain town -- it is a living museum untouched by time, and an experience difficult to surpass.
We fly to San Sebastian aboard a 14-passenger turbo prop Cessna Caravan, designed with high wings and enlarged windows on both sides of the aircraft to facilitate sightseeing and photography.
Our highly experienced pilots have over 10,000 hours of flight time for your comfort and safety.
The San Sebastian Air Expedition is not for the average tourist, but for a special breed of traveler who seeks out unique experiences and the chance to experience once in a lifetime adventures.
Lunch and some beverages are provided in this package.
