We love this restaurant. It is open air, the service is always friendly and attentive, the steaks are tender and delicious. The occasional gecko running across the ceiling adds to the experience! It is a repeat stop for us every year on vacation.

This place delivered! We took the entire family, including grandparents and kids ages two and five. There is a playground in the courtyard and the kids played while we feasted on rich and juicy steaks (generous amounts of beef), and fresh and authentic chimichurri sauce. Highly recommended. Great wine selection as well. Best meal of the week!

We accidentally found LaPortena as we shared a taxi van with some people that were having dinner there so the next evening we decided to try it. It was excellent!! My husband and I both had the prime rib&it was the best I have ever had and the margaritas are mighty fine also. You really need to try this wonderful restaurant if staying in Nuevo Vallarta!!

This was the best dining experience in the Puerto Vallarta region. Went as a group of eight, each ordered something different from fish to steaks, ++ meal ++ service.

We ate there twice during our 9 day stay in Nuevo/Puerto Vallarta. The atomsphere was beautiful and the food was SO GOOD. Everything was great, the manager even stayed late with us for conversation and shots for the whole family on the house. It was amazing!

The food is of a very high quality. For the price, you just can't beat the meal that you are going to have at this place.

The last night of our vacation and we find La Porteña. And we're glad we did. The food was excellent. The service staff was entertaining. We are not fans of the roaming minstrel, as a rule, but he was ok, too. The gardens were great. It is reminiscent of an Argentine Hacienda. Staying in Nuevo Vallarta made it even better. It is right there.

I agree with the other comments about the food and service. We have eaten there twice. The last time, we did have a problem with the oder from the tiger cages next to the restaurant, but other than that, very good.

Just got back from Vallarta and had the opportunity to have dinner at this fantastic restaurant. They have an excellent menu. Awesome service. The "vacio", an Argentinean cut steak with the special sauce is the most incredible piece of meat I have ever had. It is so tender you can cut it with a butter knife, and the price was awesome - only $13 USD! They even had a kids menu, with the "best hamburger I’ve ever had" according to my 10 yr old son. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone with is going to Vallarta. Make sure you get the Mexican Coffee after dinner - it is quite a spectacular treat and the show that accompanies its preparation is worth bringing your camera for!
