I always forget just how lucky I am living near San Francisco and the amazing, diverse cuisine. While visiting P.V. as most of Mexico or the world, it is not always easy to find local quality. When my wife and I found J.J.'s my heart warmed with every drink and dish, service with an honest and pleasant smile. If you read Stephanie's (SF)review, I'd be the husband, she sounds more like Joe's wife the way she pumped up the place, but every word is true.

The place is laid back with great character and the food... truly, truly amazing.

Cheers to Joe !!!!

My husband (a chef) and I hid from the rain in Joe Jack's and had an amazing dinner, and the next day ran back for a pre-flight lunch before heading back to San Francisco! Joe has brought the charm, fun, sophisticated yet down home good food that he's perfected at Luna Park in San Francisco straight down to Puerto Vallarta. The ceviche sampler plate was the best in PV (or anywhere else in the world that we've had!), the grilled prawn nicoise was a perfect lunch (with delish, beautifully chosen lettuce, tomatoes, baby red potatoes, delicately spiced dressing).
The fish tacos- sublime. And the bbq'd chicken (reminiscent of Luna's dish) was so good, I'm craving it now as I write. The bartender does not skimp on beautiful, fresh ingredients for the fruity sangria or ginger mojitos or crazy-good Mexitos (mojitos with tequila- yeeeha!). And don't think you're too full for the dessert- the espresso gratina with the freshest perfectly sweetened cream topped it all off incredibly, and was so refreshing before heading back out into the hot, humid PV night... Seems like whatever "kinks" were there from year one are long-gone- this place would be a hit in any big city anywhere in the world! And we were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill- about the equivalent of $45 for a full meal with appetizers, drinks&dessert!

Love it

I live in Vallarta and try to live cheap, but love to splurge on the all you can eat fish and chips after a strawberry mojito.

The staff is super friendly and we always have a good laugh with them or you can sit up top away from the bustle and enjoy the cute view.

Joe Jacks is the place!

Must try the grilled fish tacos and ask for their tartar sauce. And order up on of their lemonades-what a treat!
Sit upstairs around 7 as the sun goes down.
Great music!

Not what I expected (in a GREAT way!)

I am a vegetarian. Most meats that I have tried are gross and have strange textures, but when I went to Joe's (my boyfriend is an avid meat eater) I was pursuaded to try the fish and chips. It was absolutly wonderful! The portebella mushroom quesedilla was to die for! It was so delicious! I highly recommend Joe's to anyone visiting the Vallarta area. If your Spainish isn't the best, Joe's waiters (and waitresses) are more than able to interpret and very cheerful and experienced. Joe's gave both my boyfriend and I something to talk about!

We dined at Joe Jacks on March 30th. I had the Friday fish and chips. 2 servings. At 3 in the morning I woke up sick and was ill for 2 days. I almost went to the doctor. Most likely from the coleslaw tartar sauce. I should have known better and stuck with the local stuff. Gringos don't know how to prepare food properly in Mexico.

Awesome!

It's the Whole Fish

Best imaginable fish. It's the only one on the menu served grilled whole and the flavor is incredible. I ordered it one night and my friend tasted it. He insisted we return for dinner just so he could order it.

Absolutely the best fish and chips we have ever had. Many other offerings are just as tempting. There is quite often a lineup for dinner.Do I have to say anymore!!!!!Count the restaurants in PV that have a lineup on the fingers of one hand.(you'll have a couple left over)
