Best Seafood SoupRated:![]() by Gabe Casalett from USA Written 1 month ago | I lived in Vallarta for six months and so I got to try a lot of different restaurants. The reason Cafe de Olla stood out was that they have an incredible seafood soup (I think on the menu it's an appetizer, but it's a healthy portion!). It was only about 80 pesos, which is really good for what you get.
The atmosphere is great, though it is always packed. |
Kate K. on Camanoby Kate Kappel from USWritten 2 months ago | We've been going here for years, we stay at Los Arcos, Just around the corner. Yes! The dinners are Great....but you've got to try the breakfast "oatmeal"..... they cut up little pieces of cantalope and bananas and cook it with warm milk...It is sooo good! (then come back for dinner). Muy Bueno. |
great service, great foodRated:![]() by stella&randy from usa Written 3 months ago | We ate here several times in august 2008, and plan to return again next month. From the atmosphere to the service to the amazing food-fajitas, carne asadas, chips and homemade salsas, margaritas- all were perfect. |
The hype is true!Rated:![]() by Alisha R from Canada Written 5 months ago | I have both lived in and visited PV and Cafe De Olla has been my favorite meal in Mexico. I have told everyone I know about this little resturant in the old Vallarta (romantic zone). I took my bf there last May and he liked it just as much as I did, so we ate there twice, which is hard to do with the variety there is. As with a lot of diffrent resturants in Mexico they started us with free chips and salsa. They have a fantastic platter for two. You can either choose a whole Snapper or one of the best 12oz steak you will ever taste! (we tried both and they were both equally good) then also included on the platter is rice, vegetables, huge prawns and two lobster tails. Topped with some fishbowl margaritas we both left not being able to even think about having anything else!! All this including tip cost us about $70, about a third of the price this meal would cost anywhere in Alberta. |

Fab MargaritasRated:![]() by Ronnie from USA Written 9 months ago | The food was good. But I go back for the margaritas! WOW! Best I've EVER had. I had the frozen margarita, and it looked normal and tasted normal, but it must have been pure tequilla! Again, WOW! |
Not to be missed while in Puerto VallartaRated:![]() by Julie from USA Written 9 months ago | We love this resturant! We have been going here for the past 8 years. I don't know how we never stumbled across it before that. Food and service are always wonderful. In addtion to the seafood platter for 2, try the mahi mahi in garlic butter!! Can't wait to get back there in 2 weeks. |
Well worth itRated:![]() by Jay from USA Written 9 months ago | This year we made our second visit to Cafe de Olla and it was well worth it. They have excellent food at very reasonable prices and a fun, authentic Mexican atmosphere.
I had the BBQ ribs which were very good at a bargain price while my wife had some enchilladas which were also very good. Their margaritas were the best I have had in PV which probably means I would go back even if the food was not as good or as reasonably priced. This place is a bargain. It also fills up fast and not a secret so reservations are recommended unless you like to wait outside. Also bring your cash.....no plastic accepted here. A great place which we plan on returning. |
Really good breakfastsRated:![]() by quincytoo from canada Written 9 months ago | We had breakfast here last time we were in PV. Spiced coffee rocked as did the egg dishes and the oatmeal. We would go back for breakfast |
Good prices, good food, great place.Rated:![]() by Mary S from Canada Written 9 months ago | This is the first stop off the plane. Have to have tortilla soup - it is the best!!! I have never had bad food at this restaurant, and I have been going there for 6 years. This is traditional Mexican, nothing fancy. Big portions, good prices. Always a line up around supper time (I usually eat earlier when there are no line ups). The fact there are line ups every night it is open, says something. |
