We have been twice and are going again in 2010. The service is top flight, the time share people are pests to be avoided as the salesmen "mislead". Food was better in 09 than 08. Rooms are in need of updates but are kept clean and neat. Like all places, there are things that could be better but the staff are so super that one ignores the small stuff. It's not 5 star but it is nice.

For the most part good....

We just got back Jan 8, 2009. We had a wonderful time, except for a few issues. The assistant manager lady in the office just off from the front desk, was extremely rude to our relatives who came over for a visit. She needs to learn about customer relations. She had an opportunity to make a good impression for the hotel and most likely more business from family and friends, because of her rudeness this will not happen.

The rest of the Hotel staff are extremely friendly.
The people selling hotel time shares are very annoying both the ladies and the men.
We thought the food was 5 Star quality really very good.
The location is awesome, the best beach we have ever be at.
The hotel is in need of some updating/remodeling, which I understand is to begin in April 2009.
The elevators worked most of the time. The exercise room needs to be updated and air conditioned, and most of the equipment needs to be replaced.
Our room had new mattresses on the bed which was good. The air conditioner didn't work as much as we would have liked, and the windows don't open much, so it is difficult to air the room out.
We did very much enjoy the beach and spent 8-9 hours out there everyday.
Would we go back? We likely would if the above mentioned issues are resolved.

I would recommend this hotel as it is close to all amenities. We stayed there for 7 days in March of 2006 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It is close to the flea markets and that was a lot of fun.

the most beautiful hotel ever!!!

hotel is OK, but the front desk employees are in need of improvement. They lack customer service skills. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone else. We stayed in room #753 and there was a dog staying on the same floor and we could hear it bark all day. Our experience at Occidental Allegro Nuevo Vallarta was a bad one.

Don't Go!!!!

If you have been to a 5 star hotel in the past, you will not like the Allegro!!!!!

The rooms have a thick musty oder and all your clothes will need to washed/dry cleaned when you get home.

Don't bother taking even semi-formal clothes as there is no place to wear them. A pair of respectable jeans and t-shirt is all you need to feel appropriately dressed.

The food is adequate, but the choices are extremely limited. The last night was Mexican Night and that was your only food choice. If you aren't a mexican food fan. Tough!! We had eaten at the Mexican Restraunt the night before so it was like having left-overs for dinner.

The staff was eager to please, expecially if you slipped them a few bucks, by the end of the week they are tripping over themselves trying to get to the tipping tables before their co-workers.

Don't take the elevators!!!! The steps are a better choice. They provide exercise and are stress free. The sales staff for the time shares have their table right by the elevator doors and ANNOY you the entire week!!!! Very, very annoying when you are trying to relax.

I have been on many vacations, in many areas of the globe. The Allegro was definitley at the bottom of the list, way bottom.

They did provide in room beverages after I voiced my concern over being warned not to drink the water in the room.

Who ever heard of having to purchase water at a 5 apple hotel?

The bar was just like the picture shows, dark, uninviting and open to all the elements.
Not somewhere to go for a before or after dinner cocktail. Barstools or plastic chairs, fine for afternoon but in the evening I appreciate a little ambiance and class.

just what I needed!!

I went on the spur of the moment for healing after surgery. The two weeks did the trick - I have just arrived home feeling ready for the next step of the health journey.
The rooms need some work but are sufficient; although the bathrooms are small. Food at the buffet was plentiful, tasty and healthy. The two restaurant served very tasty meals and one should definitely use the two opportuities. Very good staff and service - any deficiencies were repaired immediately.
This is a family friendly place with excellent activities staff and something for everyone to participate in. The evening performances entertained with much laughter. We made special friends with some vacationers and staff.
Can't wait to return!

The hotel is in need of a face lift but the people that worked there made up for it! The food was good and the beach was amazing. It was just what we needed! I would go back again.

Just came home Jan. 8, 2008. Combined familes included 3 adults, a 5yr old, 2 15yr girls, and 18yr old boy. We all had a blast and agree that we loved it. It was not first class, but you get what you pay for. No balconies. Brand new beds, (saw them putting them in everyday), clean, food was great. Booze was brand name-not rot gut. For sure-use your 2 nights in the Mexican and Italian restuarants-excellent. Was noisy at night, but only because there were having great shows-bring your white noise maker. Smaller and easy to get around and find each other, very kind staff. We've been all been all over Mexico, at least 25 times. Love the pacific coast because the locals and other guests that go to that area are so friendly!
