Canto del Sol Plaza Vallarta Category 4 stars

We stay at the Villa's all inclusive and it was great in 2007 and 2008. Jose and George were the hardest working guys I have ever met. Almost running to keep the guests happy with a drink. Rooms were clean and the maids did a great job. We are planning a 6 week stay in P.V. and it will be at Canto del Sol. It's close to town and it was interesting to go downtown at night lots of entertainment. The time share people were a pain but after saying no a couple of times they left you alone.

My husband and I who are seniors stayed at this all inclusive hotel 5 years ago and enjoyed every minute of it. We were not happy with the room we had when we arrived--but all you need to do is ask to change it--We arrived late at night so we were able to change our room the next morning after those who were leaving checked out. The staff were obliging and the service was absolutely wonderful--and I would recommend it to anyone--even families with children because they sure know how to entertain those tiny tots as well. Went to p.v. for the first time in January and wasn't sure what to expect. The hotel was very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The food was very good with plenty of choice's. Although the beach was a litttle rocky,we still enjoyed playing in the ocean. The pool was clean and just the right temperature. We recommend this hotel and plan on returning next year.

A few years ago my boyfriend brought me to Mexico for my first time. We stayed here because it seemed such a good value for an all-inclusive.

Room: Ours was garden level (the cheapest) with a partial view of the ocean/open-air buffet. Still a nice view with a walk-out glass door. Beds were fine, housekeeping service acceptable, and the maid left bottled water every day.

Activities: There's lots going on by the pool, and a swim-to bar. We swam at the beach (steps from the hotel) and did para-sailing. Not a private beach, so there were a lot of vendors wandering around, but not really annoying or pushy. The time-share sellers in town had that covered. Don't bother with them.

Food/Drink: The buffet was good, with a different theme for every day of the week. I liked that they served mahi-mahi (dolphinfish, local) almost every day. Selection was all right, not super exciting. Tacos at the snack bar were great. The lobby bar didn't have much of a selection and was terrible for atmosphere. The pool bar was a lot better, brighter place to hang out and meet new friends. The bartenders spoke enough english to satisfy us, and the drinks were free with all-inclusive.

All in all, I wish we had taken advantage of the different activities, tours, etc., but that's not the fault of the hotel, who supplied brochures, tour guides, and the like. For a sunny, friendly place to hang out by the pool, soak in some sun, and drink, this is a great place.

I have been to Puerto Vallarta about 4 times now, and have never strayed from Canto Del Sol and sister Hotel Villas Vallarta. The staff are amazingly friendly, and I actually stay in contact with some of them even when I return home! Its great to know there will be a friendly face waiting for you when you get off the plane. Food is good, I spend alot of time at the buffet, and being celiac I LOVE IT! There are a lot of wheat free options, and although it is the same chicken beef and fish option every night, they never seem to get old. Its in a great location and you can walk into old Vallarta (if you dont mind the 20 minute walk to the malacon) There are always Taxis near by so wherever you want to go is open to you. If your looking for a super quiet get away head to Villas Vallarta you still have access to Canto but it is smidge quieter.

I absolutly love it at Canto and would recomend it to anyone!!

I would definitely recommend this hotel. the staff are very helpful and anxious to please.

I would like to see a more visible first aid department, with a trained attendant.

I also did not appreciate that little children were allowed in the open air lounge at night.

It would be very nice if smoking customers were seated in a different area, near the open air, and not near those who do not smoke.

We were very impressed with the friendliness of staff. Everyone was incredibly helpful and seem to really enjoy their jobs. The buffett can get old, but there are many excellant dining options in Puerto Vallarta. I was also very impressed at how clean the resort was kept. Everytime I turned around someone was sweeping, mopping or picking up. I will go back.

Our family of 10 stayed for 7 days and it was wonderful. The service was exceptional, the food was fantastic, and the rooms were very comfortable. Can't wait for our next vacation there.

I have been to Canto Del Sol 4 times and am going again this next Jan/08 for 2 weeks!
The rooms are nice, clean...the foods are great and the people who work there are friendly no AWESOME... I will continue to stay there as long as I am going to Puerto Vallarta!

We just got back from Canto dle Sol Plaza Vallarta and were not happy at all. The rooms we had were old and of poor quality with a number of things broken such as the lock on the back sliding door. The food was fair. The biggest problem with the ongoing pests of time share sales people "every time" you went into the lobby. We kept looking for ways to get around them as they just wouldn't take no for an answer. This really wrecked it for me. I was on vacation to relax not to be constantly stressed with sales people! We own 6 time shares and I would not go back to this one nor buy it.
