The artistic rapprochement of Xaime Ximénez began in March 1985 when he decided to pick up paintbrushes using only his mouth, and paint the colors that are classic Puerto Vallarta; reflected in the red tiles, white walls of the tower of the Church of Guadalupe, the green mountains and changing blue ocean.

"My work is done with love and dedication to art naïf where I want to express my innocent and naive perception of the world through shape and color."

Ximénez Xaime has reflected the characteristics of art naïf in his work from the start. This art naïf painter appears devoid of convention, stereotypes or prejudices acquired through academic training or through the imitation of prevailing artistic currents. It is free-style, kind, naive, and almost childlike.

"There is no doubt that Puerto Vallarta is a paradise on earth, where I have lived since my childhood. For my whole life, I've enjoyed walking its cobbled streets and white houses with red terra-cotta tiles."

Xaime Ximénez was the recipient of the 2001Vallarta Art Prize and also placed first, second and third in an international competition for artists with disabilities in 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona.

"My art is a window of my world, my heart, my beautiful contagious works of colorful Puerto Vallarta."

Fish, cats, red clay tiles, and the Pacific, are constants in his work and probably he himself has become as much a part of the traditional Vallarta landscape, as each of the elements that he paints.

Xaime Ximénez is often found in downtown/Centro on the Maelcon near Los Arcos the, where his mouth is his tool to reflect over 23 years of tradition.
