With just over eight days before the start of the XVI edition of the Pan American Games, the most important sports fair in the Americas. The competition, will be held in Guadalajara in 2011, with alternate locations like Tapalpa for mountain biking and Puerto Vallarta for the triathlon. The preparation involves a series of preliminary events with next Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28 in our Bay as the venue for two events.
On Saturday, June 27, at 8:30 am, the first phase of the Second National Open Water Cup, an international swimming tournament, will take place. Youth and master swimmers must swim a distance of 2.500 meters and 5.000 meters in the elite category. The course, which will start and finish at Los Arcos will take place along the Malecón following a circuit marked for the different categories. The number of competitors is limited to 400 swimmers, including the participation of athletes: Ivan de Jesus Lopez Ramos, Patricia Midori Castaneda Miyamoto, Chiu Manuel Perez Cardenas Zaira Edith Vazquez Rodrigo Elorza, all selected to compete for Mexico in the Rome World Championships, which begins July 19 in the Italian capital.
The sixth stage of 2009 National Series of the Mexican Triathlon Federation and the Pan American Cup of the International Triathlon Union will be held on Sunday, June 28 in the same event, which will take place at the Integral Port Administration (API), where the swim portion will take place. The bike route will be along Boulevard Francisco Medina Ascencio then finish on the track circuit located on the esplanade of the Maritime Port Terminal. 1,200 participants are expected for this event beginning at 7:30 pm.
