Salsa Festival

Salsa music is a Latin genre that sprang from a mixture of Cuban rhythms, such as the cha cha, mambo, etc. It was born in the 1970s, curiously enough in New York, perhaps from Latin immigrants remembering their roots.
The number of those who enjoy listening and dancing to salsa music here in Puerto Vallarta has grown tremendously over the past few years, so Fiesta Latina Productions has put together a salsa festival. This effort is headed by two enterprising young women who are united by their love of Latin music, and decided to make it happen.
They plan to bring in international stars such as 'Adolescents', a Venezuelan group that has gained world renown; Estrellas de Niche, from Cali, Columbia; Chemaney y su Orquesta México, the first Mexican salsa singer recognized at the level of Rubén Blades, Tito Nives and Victor Manuel; and Tino and his Feeling, a Venezuelan who started his band with Mexican musicians, bringing flavor to evenings at the Mambo Café. Also, Tribal, a group of young dancers, will perform spectacular choreographies, including a local number. All together, there will be over 70 performing artists, trying to get over 10,000 people dancing to the same beat.
The goals behind this party include revealing salsa culture here in Puerto Vallarta and creating ties among the various Latin communities that reside in our state. Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Chile and the Dominican Republic are just some of the countries that will join with México in one giant party where the main objective is to have fun and dance until you can't dance anymore.
This festival will have a large impact not only in Puerto Vallarta, but also in different communities within Mexico and the world. This will be a huge step for Puerto Vallarta culture since many tourists visit our city every year in search of this type of event.
Everything is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm on Sunday, May 4, in the former old Señor Frogs building in the Romantic Zone. The night, which will likely go well into the morning, will also include a body painting exhibition. General admission will be $350 pesos, while the VIP area will be $400 pesos.
