Martin Scorsese Donates Print to Vallarta Film Fest

PresentationMartin Scorsese donated a new, fully restored print of the Night of the Iguana for the upcoming Homage to John Huston held here in Puerto Vallarta November 22nd through November 29th.

The Puerto Vallarta Film Festival A.C. is pleased to announce the following schedule of screenings and presentations for the eight-day Homage to John Huston. All events unless otherwise noted will take place at the Rio Cuale Cultural Center on the East end of the island.

November 22-Free events:
6:00 pm: Gallery Omar Alonso, Opening Cocktail and Photo Exhibition by Gabriel Figueroa Flores
7:30 pm: Rio Cuale Cultural Center, Opening Ceremonies
8:00 pm: Screening: AFI Lifetime Achievement John Huston
9:30 pm: Guadalupe Church: Mariachi Mass

November 23-Free event:

7:30 pm: Introduction by Dr. Aureliode Los Reyes
8:00 pm: Screening: The Maltese Falcon

November 24-Free event:
7:30 pm: Panel Discussion -- Puerto Vallarta friends of John Huston reminisce about John Huston and his life in Vallarta
8:00 pm: Screening: The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

November 25-Free event:
7:30 pm: Panel Discussion -- Puerto Vallarta friends of John Huston reminisce about John Huston and his life at Las Caletas 8:00 pm: Screening: The African Queen

November 26-Free event:
7:30 pm: Introduction by Michael Donnelly
8:00 pm: Screening: Moby Dick

November 27-Free event:
7:30 pm: Introduction by Danny Huston and Gabriel Figueroa
8:00 pm: Screening of The Night of the Iguana

Tickets required for the following event at the La Jolla de Mismaloya Hotel
6:00 pm: Cocktails on the original set of the Iguana

8:00 pm: Cine Bahia: 40th Anniversary screening of a new print created from a restoration of The Night of the Iguana commissioned by Martin Scorsese. The film will be introduced by Danny Huston and Gabriel Figueroa Flores.
Tickets are 100 pesos each, limited capacity.

November 28-Free event:
7:30 pm: Introduction by Academy Award Nominee Screenwriter Janet Roach
8:00 pm: Screening: Prizzi's Honor

November 29-Free event:
7:30 pm: Introduction to be announced
8:00 pm: Screening: The Dead

Tickets required for the following event at the Westin Regina Resort

9:00 pm: Gala Closing Dinner

Guests will be welcomed by Vallarta's leading Mariachi and the acclaimed Ballet Folkorico Xiutla.
A string Quartet from the Guadalajara Philharmonic will entertain during cocktails and hors d'oeuvres on the terrace. Along the path to The Patio Los Arcos, site of the evening's festivities, guests will enjoy the photo exhibition by Gabriel Figueroa Flores which opened on the 22nd at Gallery Omar Alonso.

At The Patio Los Arcos a grand buffet will be presented by eleven of Vallarta's best restaurants, followed by a concert by Mexico City's Susana Harp. The City will then recognize some of those involved with the making of The Night of the Iguana including Ray Stark.

This will culminate with a tribute to John Huston. Gabriel Figueroa will present the Huston family with some of the photographs from his exhibition, and we will honor the family with a bronze award. These presentations will be made against a backdrop of slides of John Huston taken while he was living in Puerto Vallarta. The evening will close with a dance performance and fireworks, followed by dancing under the stars. Tickets are 1000 pesos each, limited capacity.
