This is the start of the Festival season in San Sebastián de Oeste. This is the second year that Ing. Jorge Antonio Dueñas Peñas has taken charge of organizing these cultural events in his hometown. Every 3 months, there is a new festival. The first is scheduled to take place in the Spring with a completely national event presenting songs and music that will be one hundred percent Mexican; chamber music in the Summer, and to close out the year "Voces Maravillosas" (Marvelous Voices) which is a selection of the best singers in the surrounding areas that have been invited to participate in this cultural celebration.
San Sebastián de Oeste is a magical town located in the western part of Jalisco, set amongst the Sierra Madres right in the center of lush vegetation. This picturesque setting is ideal for enjoying the Spring Music Festival 2008.
Due to the overwhelming success of the Summer and Winter festivals, The Fundación Cultural de Real de Minas, A.C., an organization that supports the festival, has worked hard to bring to this community, a festival that will promote cultural development and highlight this town; so that San Sebastián can be recognized among many others in the State as well as the entire country as a the setting of many different activities; not just a quaint town in which to spend a peaceful weekend enjoying the local Racilla (Tequila) that is produced there.
The "Festival Primavera" will be held on April 5 and 6. As part of their feature entertainment line up are performances by mariachi Puro Jalisco at the Templo de San Sebastián Mártir on Saturday the 5th at 7:30pm, and a folk ballet at the Municipal Auditorium on Sunday the April 6th at 12:00pm. Everything has been taken care of for you to enjoy Mexican music while taking in the beauty of the Jalisco Sierra Madres.
