In an interview, PAN candidate for mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Ignacio Guzmán García, reaffirms his love for this city that he made his home years ago to put down roots and where he reaffirms his commitment to honesty and transparency. He also assures us that Puerto Vallarta is too important to be left in inexperienced hands.
A few days from the end of the campaign, what impressions would you like to leave Puerto Vallarta? What more do you need?
"Work undertaken seriously, honestly, with love for the planet, what is needed here is the work of everyone, but work with honesty, with order, and citizen driven, rather than the special interests of a few families or groups that have inflicted already much damage on the city, and failed to respect it seeking only accumulate their booty".
Against that backdrop, what is your strategy to improve public administration?
"With honesty and ability; with serious commitments as I have always done; where a person's word is as trusted as a signature; I am a man of my word, something that some young people have not learned. I practice the values of my party, honesty, social sensitivity, human development. My abilities and giving my best effort to the city but also my commitment that no one will get anything that does not represent a benefit to Vallarta."
Facing a younger candidate than you, who bases his strength in his youth, how have you responded?
"I do not disqualify the young, but there are things that only experience can provide; long-term vision, the wealth of knowledge that the years bring, namely to make decisions with the certainty of what has been seen over time for best results. My greatest strength is precisely my years of experience and my work. I do not support the controlling family of my party or a union to put pressure on their workers."
Much has been said about the possibility of a debate between Nacho and Salvador, and… nothing.
"Since the beginning of the campaign we have been in full readiness to participate in any forum, meeting or discussion proposed. If the date is tomorrow, then we will be there tomorrow."
Care to share with us any campaign platforms?
"No, I'm not afraid to share my proposals. I've been doing so since the beginning of our campaign and I will continue to face the public and at any forum to which I am invited."
