Bull Riding Rodeo in Puerto Vallarta

The stomping of hooves and jingling of spurs come together in what is considered an extreme sport by many. The audience cheers and claps as the riders put their lives on the line riding bucking bulls for a record eight seconds, while the nervousness of the rider as well as the spectators is fused to the rhythm of country music.
This event comes to Vallarta for the first time under the sponsorship of the "Cuernos Chuecos" corporation, established in 1999 by an American rodeo enthusiast. Today, it is one of the most impressive shows in Mexico, as well as being recognized in the United States and Brazil. "We are addicted to danger" has become the theme within the Mexican rodeo world.
Close to 30 cowboys will arrive from different parts of Mexico and abroad to compete; riding bulls weighing nearly a ton, with the best possible form during eight grueling seconds. This competition tours throughout the year, and at the end of the tour, the best riders will compete for the golden buckle and a prize of $150,000 pesos.
The funds raised by the event will be used to improve the services of Lienzo Charro to support the charreria (Mexican rodeo) in Puerto Vallarta, a 100% Mexican sport. The date is April 5, at 7:00 pm, at the Lienzo Charro Real del Sarco, behind the Centro Universitario de la Costa. Pre-sale tickets cost $180 pesos and can be bought at "Plan B" in Ixtapa, the "Vaquero" store in El Pitillal and at the rodeo grounds box office.
