On its Second edition the Annual National Charro Championship "Puerto Vallarta 2Mil4", which started February 19th and ends Sunday February 22nd, features 20 of the top Charro teams from around the country, who will display their abilities and styles.

The opening ceremony of the competition and the first Charreada (similar to a Rodeo) was held yesterday at 3:00 p.m at the Lienzo Charro Miguel "Prieto" Ibarrķa.
Today, February 20th, at noon, the competitions started and will last till Saturday. The three best teams will compete in Sunday afternoon's finals.
At night at 9:30 pm the "Maleconada" (a traditional mexican music band will play around downtown) will take place. On Saturday, at 7:30 pm there will be a Jaripeo (a bull-riding rodeo) with the best bulls of the region, a great mexican music band and the young singer Javier Herrera.
Charro
A Charro is a mexican horseman skilled in the management of horses and other animals. The charro wears a special outfit with a high-crowned, wide-brimmed hat, tights, flaring pants and short jacket.

A Charreada is the event where the charro has the chance to demonstrate his skills in the handling of his horse and other animals. A charreada is kind of similar to an American-style rodeo, but in the charreada there is no individual competition, it's a team competition.
