Ice Cream Shops
Summer is fast approaching and the heat is getting more and more intense. For this issue, Radar is dedicated to that dessert that refreshes us so much: ice cream. The following is just a small sampling of the different types of ice cream available in downtown Puerto Vallarta.

Danny-Yo
Estacionamiento Plaza Juárez

It's a concept that was created to sell frozen yogurt treats with an imaginative and fun flare. They have 17 years of experience as leaders in their industry, backed by a successful franchise system of 60 establishments throughout the country. They carry pina colada, natural, and vanilla, as well as their combinations. Prices start at $13 pesos for a single-scoop cone.

Nieve de garrafa
Around the flea market
Mon-Sun 3:00pm-8:00pm
Its name stems from the method used to keep it cold; it is stored in an aluminum container surrounded with ice and salt in a wooden pail. It is made at home by mixing all the ingredients inside the aluminum container and processed with a series of spins. It is sold from a rolling cart near the municipal flea market.

Raspados - Shaved Ice
On the malecon
Mon-Sun from: 12:00pm
Around the Malecón and on various streets downtown, carts offer delicious shaved ice in a cup topped with assorted syrups, such as vanilla, lemon, and strawberry, all made from natural fruit to offer a refreshing and delicious treat.

Baskin Robbins
Paseo Díaz Ordaz

Dippin´ Dots
Juárez 314-A

This original brand came on the market very recently, offering Space Age ice cream in the shape of little balls. When put in your mouth, they give you the sensation of eating cold hard candy with the flavor of ice cream lingering on your tongue. In addition to traditional flavors, they offer chamoy drenched in its own syrup.

This ice cream shop in the center of the city offers 16 flavors of ice cream, their famous popsicles for $13 pesos ($16 pesos if you opt to cover it with chocolate), as well as banana splits, iced cappuccinos, shakes and much more.

La Michoacana
Morelos & Zaragoza S/N
Mon-Sun 10:00am- 11:00pm
This is a Mexican brand with a presence throughout the country. Some of their most popular flavors include pistachio, mamey, pina colada, eggnog with raisins, mango, and guava ($16 pesos for a single and $29 pesos for a double). They also offer assorted flavored waters, shakes and banana splits.

Tejuino

Tejuino is a traditional refreshing drink in Jalisco, very popular with locals. Made of fermented corn, salt and lime are added upon serving, which creates a thick mixture. It's even better when lime ice cream is added. Try this ancestral Mexican drink at the cart near the Solórzano gas station.
