Los Mangos Library: A Vital Community Institution
by Gaby García |
The main reason Los Mangos Library is my favorite facility is because among their objectives is the promotion of culture, sharing of information, support for learning and the promotion of the love of books. If these objective are accomplished, they would certainly define a person, since this means the difference between attending college or not, and in having a passion for knowledge or not. Why is learning important? It has been documented that this allows a person to easily adapt to his or her environment, and also have a more fulfilling life; not just financially but also emotionally. With this goal, the first Los Mangos Library fundraising event of the year has been organized at Villa Mandarinas. This is a cocktail, buffet-style dinner promising to be a glamorous as well as a joyful and entertaining event. They will have dancing music, a silence auction and a performance by the Quesadivas which is scheduled to start at 9:30pm. The live auction which includes a three-night stay for up to 14 persons at Villa Mandarina, which is valued at $12,000 USD. This villa also offers 10 staff members including chefs, and housekeepers, but does not include the meals. The opening bid starts at $3,000 USD and all funds raised will be used for the remodeling of Sally's Corner children's library section located at the Los Mangos Library. Don't forget to visit Villa Mandarina in Mismaloya on April 4, from 5:30pm to 10:30pm. The donation fee is $500 pesos. Due to limited parking space, it is recommended that you take the provided transportation which is included; and which is scheduled to depart at 5:00pm from Cassandra Shaw Jewelry located on Basilio Badillo. You can purchase advanced tickets at: Bacio Gelati/Caffe, located at Plaza de Armas; Los Mangos Library, on Francisco Villa; Cassandra Shaw, on Basilio Badillo, or at Étnica, on 388 Olas Altas.
