The beaches of the bay have their own unique characteristics. Many of the northern beaches have soft powdery sand, while Yelapa and Boca de Tomatlan have a courser sand flecked with mica that sparkles and glitters in the water and on the sand. Other beaches to the south, such as Caletas and Pizota have soft sand and clear emerald green water.
