Semana Santa is right around the corner.
The Primavera trees are absolutely packed with yellow or pink flowers, the mangos are almost ready to be picked, and a hint of more humidity is felt in the air. Every hotel is overbooked for the two weeks of Easter/Semana Santa, grocery stores order extra staple items to be delivered for the weeks ahead, and tour buses start staking out parking places.
Shops and stores prepare for Semana Santa, pretty dresses and hats adorn windows, and little girls shop for hair ribbons.

Every year, thousands and thousands of people from all over Mexico come to Puerto Vallarta for Easter/Semana Santa. Frequently called Semana Loca, "Crazy Week" by locals, is actually two weeks of festivities. This year, Semana Santa starts April 13th with Palm Sunday goes until the Saturday before Easter. Easter Sunday begins what is known as Pascua and ends April 26th. During this time, the hotels are at 100% occupancy, beaches are filled and the streets and bars are packed. Parking is virtually nonexistent and the buses are full. While it sounds a bit chaotic, Semana Santa is probably one of the most beautiful times to visit Puerto Vallarta.
