Excellent View Right on the BeachRated:![]() by Joe from USA Written 1 year ago | Would highly recommend although as nice, beautiful and located, it is probably underutilized. Has potential to be even a better hotel if the food was better, drinks were better and the staff were a bit friendlier. Rooms are large and clean with large two man showers with beautiful balcony views of the bay. Be prepared for many stairs throughout the hotel grounds. Many wonderful restaurants and bars in the area so don't let the food or drinks get you down. Would definately return again. |
Can't Beat This For the MoneyRated:![]() by Ira Gross (8 comments) ![]() from US Written 1 year ago | This is now my second time staying at the Tropicana. The location is great. Right near the blue chairs beach. The staff is courteous and quick to respond when there is a concern. The grounds are are not that of a world class resort but is kept immaculate. This time i stayed in a superior room. The room is very basic but worth every penny. Great views from the balcony. Our room was also spotless after each cleaning. I do have 2 quibbles about the room though. First, the beds are hard as a rock. Second, the air conditioner units are loud. Don't get me wrong the A/C worked great but it was so loud I had trouble hearing others in the room. For an ocean front on the Los Muertos beach it can not be beat. Trying to book this hotel is not the easiest since i have not been able to find it on travelocity or any of the other major travel sites. Both stays I used vallartaonline.com and have no problems at all. All my requests were fulfilled. When I do return to Puerto Vallarta I will stay here again.

Excellent hotel, friendly staffRated:![]() by Kevin Martin from USA Written 1 year ago | We stayed two nights at the Hotel Tropicana on our way to and from Nayarit. The hotel was superbly located -- a nice part of the old town right on one of the area's most beautiful beaches. The rooms were clean, the views were great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only "complaint" was the food, which was simply OK, but there are plenty of restaurants in the area.
An excellent place to stay. Highly recommended. |
Need a little TLCRated:![]() by Dick from usa Written 1 year ago | We were a group of 9 travelers in 5 rooms. We all felt that there were many little things that could have been better handled at little or no expense. We had friends staying at other hotels who could not even come in for breakfast or a drink. I appreciate security, but what did they think an 80 year old couple would do? One key per room - very inconvenient for couples. A number of other issues that didn't ruin our stay, but were rather annoying. It felt like a great hotel that just needs to be a little more customeer friendly. |
Great PlaceRated:![]() by R Mosiman from USA Written 1 year ago | We had a superior room in the new tower and we were very pleased with the location and the room size. Relatively quiet in the evenings which was a plus. Housekeeping was top notch and we had hot water 6 out of 7 showers.
The hotel has wonderful guest service in the medium price range, good pool and plenty of beach chairs and entertaining pigeons on the beach. We thought the restaurant food could have been better. We did 1 breakfast and 1 lunch and were disappointed in both the food and the poor service. We ate elsewhere about town on all other occasions. The only thing we missed is not having a small refrigerator. Highly recommened and would definately stay here again. |
Great placeRated:![]() by Lorraine from USA Written 1 year ago | I recently stayed at the Tropicana with my husband, son, daughter-in-law and 18 month old grandchild. We had a fabulous time. The Tropicana is right on the bay. Our rooms had lovely views of the ocean. It was easy walking distance to lots of good restaurants and shopping.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it and will definitely stay there when we return to Puerta Vallarta. |
TropicanaRated:![]() by Anne from USA Written 1 year ago | I hope to return. The stay was all that I had expected it to be. The security was excellent. |
A beautiful placeRated:![]() by Anonymous Written 1 year ago | Excellent value for the money. Most staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, a few were abrupt. Food was surprisingly excellent. No swim-up bar as advertised in the pool. Drawback: no safe in the room, very inconvenient to go to desk for safe. Beachfront not cleaned, except for area under palapas. |
