Tropicana Category 4 stars

The location can't be beat! We stayed in a Standard Room overlooking the pool and in a Superior room in the new tower. Both were perfect. In the standard room, we had a huge deck which we enjoyed in the sunshine having a glass of wine in the late afternoon. We always book the Breakfast Plan. Nice breakfast off the menu. The grounds are very clean and again... Location is the best!

I have been coming here for about 18 years. I feel like it is my second home. The place, the view, the location, the food, the service are all excellent. The staff is particularly sweet and wonderful. I am disabled, and always get the help I need. If you want a home away from home, this is the place to go!

Have stayed here twice before. The rooms are simple, clean, and do the job. Although the A/C was a little loud. We are not here to stay in a room all day. So if you want a reasonably priced hotel located on one of the best beaches in PV give this place a try.

My husband and I stayed at the Tropicana for 11 days at the end of Feb/March. We loved it! The location is great (right in old town), beach access from the hotel (with waiter service), clean and comfortable room, excellent assistance from the staff. What more can someone ask for? We loved it and would definitely come back again - try it!

Well, here we are again after our 3rd year; another great, relaxing trip at the hotel. We will return again next year - great staff, food, facilities and location. Looking forward to "Chilling Out" again in 11 months 23 days (Yikes!).

We stayed 4 nights here in Jan '07. We really loved the location in the old town close to great restaurants, art shops and the real ambiance of Puerto Vallarta. Tropicana gives you that traditional Mexico hotel feeling. The rooms are good, service is great and facilities are great. We liked the pool but found the beaches a little crowded. But afterall you are in downtown PV. We would definately stay there again!

Definitely would stay there again. Did not like the "budget rooms" overlooking the street, but the tower on the right when facing the water was awesome huge room, clean, great! The other is probably fine, just never saw it or stayed there. Didn't rate the food high, in so far as we ate most meals on the malecon or other restaurants, and only had breakfast at the Tropicana.

This was our 3rd trip to Puerto Vallarta and second stay at the Tropicana. First off, you should definitely stay in the Romantic Zone.



Yes, the hotels are older and smaller, but you are on a great beach and lots of restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance. A completely different experience than staying in the Hotel Zone or Nuevo Vallarta.



Hands down the Tropicana has the best beach on Playa Los Muertos. Lots of room with well spaced palapas and prompt, friendly beach service from the bar staff. Neighboring hotels have smaller more crowded beaches.



The entire staff was always courteous, helpful and friendly. In fact, the people of Puerto Vallarta in general are very open and friendly.



We stayed in a one of the standard rooms which are the oldest. Clean, but basic and showing their age. The balcony overlooking the pool and beach is 5 star however... fantastic! If you've traveled around Mexico, then you'll be fine with these rooms.



If you want something more modern, then book a superior or junior suite. Both are very nice. We will probably book one on our next trip.



We love Puerto Vallarta. Even though it's been a long-time tourist destination and has a huge expat community, it still retains so much local color and flavor that it's always fun and relaxing to visit. And since we will only stay in the Romantic Zone, the Tropicana is hard to beat.

We stayed here a week after walking away from our reservations at another place close to downtown. We walked into EVERY resort within 1 mile either direction. Newly updated, fantastic views, great service (except 1 waiter), and we'll stay here next time.......Jeff and Jeri
