Excellent location..great beach!

First time at the Emperador. Wonderful staff, rooms clean. Great location if you want the beach and Old Town experience. Great places to eat in every direction. A bit softer mattresses on the bed would make this better, but we will stay here again.

For the past 4 years we have stayed at the Emperador in Puerto Vallarta and have found it to be exactly what we wanted. The front staff has always been friendly and courteous and willing to help with anything.Claudine (reservations) is so helpful as well and always smiling. We have clean rooms every year. The location is great and the view from the balcony is superb. We will return this year as well.

Good location, kitchenette could use some work.

Good location for independent couples or travelers who want a good mix of exposure to the town and the beach. Our room had an excellent location on the beach with good view of the water.
We had a standard suite, which consisted of a fridge in the room and a sink and gas stove/oven on the balcony. The stove/oven was only partially functional with one burner working and the oven not connected. It was difficult to light in mildly breezy conditions and sometimes went out on its own. Could use a microwave.
We travelled in August, and found that the restaurant "The lazy lizard" was closed for the season, and therefore so was room service. However, there is no shortage of restaurants in close walking distance to the hotel. The Jacuzzi isn't warm or very Jacuzzi-like. More like a big bathtub on the roof.
Overall a good no-frills place to stay.

There is nothing particularly great about this hotel, other than the location. I had an inside room along the street. It had two single beds. Specify a King or Queen ahead of time. TV worked and the staff were very courteous. There is a maid there that is singing all the time, on the elevators, while sweeping up, just a happy soul. If you are out and about alot and just need a place to crash, this is a good place. You can be at the beach in 3 minutes. The Lazy Lizard lounge chairs and meals there are good. All and all, I would stay there again.

Excellent value. Found the security guy helpful and rooms fairly clean (except for patio which was bombarded by pigeons daily and not always cleaned up), front desk a bit standoffish but helpful enough, Lazy Lizard had good food and great place to hang on the beach. We loved the central (but not noisy) location, near the local fishing pier. Agree with other reviewers - stay elsewhere if looking for luxury but can't beat the price and location.

Nothing special, but a GREAT location

First time staying in this hotel... GREAT location near the beach, shopping, bars, ATMS, and our favorite hangouts CyC's and Andele's. Only problem was clerks were confused by our prepaid two room reservation. My buddy and I ended up sharing one room, but received a refund for the other room within a reasonable time

We just returned from a 12 day stay at Emperador. This was our third year staying there, same room 111. From our balcony, we had a view of the street and of the beach. The hotel is great and the staff superb. We took an air mattress this year, only drawback is the matress on concrete. The beach was fantastic! The Lazy Lizard restaurant is a great place to have a snack or a meal. We've enjoyed the Emperador all these years, and plan to return in the future. Would highly recommend it.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 8 days and loved every minute of it! Perfect location for everything. Clean rooms and wonderful staff. The view from the balcony was beautiful. We are planning our return trip for 2007 and hope to stay in the same room...201.

On the Beach?! NO: Across the Street

November 2006: Reserved the "master suite" in early September, which was not on the beach at all, but in a scrappy addition across the very noisy street from the beach. The balcony was so tiny that a plastic chair barely fit, and the rooms were NOTHING like their on-line photos. Very disappointing.
