Great Time!by Kelly from USAWritten 1 year ago | My husband and I spent a week at the Riu in mid-February 2007. The hotel itself is beautiful. However, when we got to our room the smell was awful. Overwhelming musty/mold smelling. We were told that there were no other rooms available and we should check back at the front desk each day to see if another room would open up. That never happened. So we just had to deal with it. Other than that, we have no complaints. The food was good, service was good, and overall the resort was very clean. You have to get up pretty early to reserve chairs at the pool and also to make reservations at the restaurants that require them.
You have to keep in mind that you are in Mexico and things aren't always done the way you are accustomed to at home!! You can't beat the beautiful weather, the gorgeous sunsets and an unlimited supply of food and drink! |
Salmonnella Poisoning at Riu JaliscoRated:![]() by rggosnell@rogers.com from Canada Written 1 year ago | Our party of 14 stayed at the Riu Jalisco for week of Dec.9/06. My wife and 4 others got food poisoning. I was not impressed with this hotel when we arrived. I thought I booked a 4 or 5 star. Well it's not and even 3 star I would give it. My wife and I have travelled for the past 12 years to the Islands and Mex. Earlier this year(may) we travelled to Nice Fr. for a week. I stayed in various grade of hotels in the past. Would I recommend this hotel NO, not even to my worse enemy.
BEWARE!!!
Thank you |
Great Massage!!!Rated:![]() by Claude from Casselman from Canada Written 1 year ago | The massage on the beach at night was GREAT. For an extra $10 USD they will make you happy! Trust me. The food was good and the maids were a 8/10. Ask for Wanika and she will really take care of you! |
AMAZING!!!Rated:![]() by Nicole from USA Written 1 year ago | I've never had as much fun on a trip as I did at the Riu Jalisco. We stayed for 7 days and somehow that didn't seem long enough. The resort was beautiful and there were endless events to entertain us 24/7. I especially loved going out with some of the animacion team members to different clubs each night. They were a big part of the reason that I had so much fun. I'm hoping to go back for spring break! |
UNBELIEVABLEby Heather from USAWritten 1 year ago | I have been to to Mexico a couple of times and i have never had soo much fun! The Riu Jalisco was the BEST hotel i have ever stayed at. The staff really made our trip the best ever. They were kind, fun, and very informative. If anyone is thinking about going to Mexico GO HERE!!!! The staff including Dave, Tamara and all the entertainment and bartenders were amazing. I had the time of my life!!!! My friends and i plan on going back for sure!!!!!! |
RiuRated:![]() by Susie from USA Written 1 year ago | We have been to Mexico several times. The Riu was the best place we have stayed. We enjoyed it so much that we chose to go back there again this year! We are looking forward to yet another great stay at the Riu. |
best week of my lifeby Laurie Sullivan from CanadaWritten 1 year ago | Nothing can compare to the experience we had at the Riu Jalisco. IT was great. We spent all our time in the adult pool or on the beach. The bartenders Carlos and Pulga kept us entertained and laughing... can't wait to go back! |
So many opinionsRated:![]() by Mikey from Canada Written 2 years ago | There were 14 of us that went in early December 2006 for a week. The rooms were fine, the food was good but the same thing each day. I found if I concentrated my food search to 1/4 of the restraunt than every day I would find something new. The staff were incredibley nice. The beach was OK and we found a lounger everyday. The water was not the best but for the amount of time in the water we survived. If you want better ocean spend more money and go to the east side of Mexico. I enjoyed the hotel and it was worth it for the amount of money I Paid.

Lisa from USARated:![]() by Lisa from USA Written 2 years ago | We stayed at the RIU the first week of Nov. 06. In 2 days we had 3 rooms. First room a/c didn't work, 2nd room, too small for 4 people, 3 room was an upgrade and was better. I guess we were lucky because everyone else complained about the mold and mildew in thier rooms that made them sick. The people were very friendly. Drinks were great. Food ok. We did get sick and had to go to Dr. when we got home. He said it was probably from drinking from the bottled water and not using the glasses. But, the glasses were always dirty in the room and the resturants. Beach was pretty with the palm trees but smelled. The sand is brown with black streaks and the water looks like chocolate milk. The water smells bad. We didn't like the kids playing in that nasty ocean. The swim up bar in the pool was great. The massage was great. We went on a couple of day trips that were awesome! If we knew the beach was going to be so bad, we wouldn't of come. We will not be going back. This trip was an experience. We had fun because of the people we were with! Hector, the FunJet guy was great! |
11/16/06-11/20/06Rated:![]() by Jessica from USA Written 2 years ago | I visited the Riu with a few girlfriends for a 4 day weekend in November. Over all, the resort was good. We spent every day all day at the pool and beach, which were great! Rooms on the other hand were a little disappointing. They were nice, but just didn't "fit" with the rest of the resort. They were dark and smelly. I would recommend this hotel if you were going with a group of friends, but if you are looking for a romantic vacation, look elsewhere. |
