Excellent Holiday!!!!

This is the second time in Puerto Vallarta but the first in a Riu Hotel. The staff, the food&entertainment&the accomodation were fantastic. The activities available meant we could be as busy or 'chilled out' as we wanted. They simply thought of everything. I know where we want to go in future - 'We want to go to Riu'!!!

Trouble?

You can find trouble anywhere you look for it - you will not find it here. We have traveled extensively in Mexico and stayed in many all inclusives. This was the only one that not only met but exceeded our expectations. You can be as laid back or as active as you want here. The food and service are of consistently high quality. So good in fact that we are returning for another week just four months later. We plan on spending at least one week per year at this great resort. We do not recommend things because we do not like to presume personal taste, but we would highly recommend checking this place out.

Room I had extreme musty smell that made my luggage and clothes stink.Did ask to be moved and the room they gave me was much better.$18.00 dollar cab fair one way but has regular bus service for $1.50 to the city.Food is very good staff very friendly.Nightly entertainment was the best.Allthough the foullest smell I have ever encounted be prewarned just be prepared to move to another room it took two days for me.This would be the best place for your money as long as you dont mind being away from the city.Only minutes away from golf courses though.large beach excellent food you cant ask for more, except for a room that doesnt smell.

We have been to several AI resorts in Mexico and have always had anxiety on arrival as to what to expect. Riu Jalisco is NOT one of those places - it's perfect from start to finish. Excellent food, excellent service, wonderful staff. In fact, we've only been home four months and are returning already! I never make recommendations to anyone because I do not presume personal taste; HOWEVER, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Review of Riu Jalisco

This hotel has very friendly and helpful personnel. Compared to others we have stayed at I would give this one no more than three stars. The rooms have a musty smell, and in spite of the tiny no-smoking signs there are ashtrays in the room. The public washrooms are insufficient, and those there are are not looked after and consequently quite disgusting and lacking in supplies. The enjoyment of pools and seaside is marred by loud blaring music and entertainers. Evening entertainment is fifth rate at best, and again - loud! Lose those mics!

My husband and I spent a week at the Riu in mid-February 2007. The hotel itself is beautiful. However, when we got to our room the smell was awful. Overwhelming musty/mold smelling. We were told that there were no other rooms available and we should check back at the front desk each day to see if another room would open up. That never happened. So we just had to deal with it. Other than that, we have no complaints. The food was good, service was good, and overall the resort was very clean. You have to get up pretty early to reserve chairs at the pool and also to make reservations at the restaurants that require them. You have to keep in mind that you are in Mexico and things aren't always done the way you are accustomed to at home!! You can't beat the beautiful weather, the gorgeous sunsets and an unlimited supply of food and drink!

Salmonnella Poisoning at Riu Jalisco

Our party of 14 stayed at the Riu Jalisco for week of Dec.9/06. My wife and 4 others got food poisoning. I was not impressed with this hotel when we arrived. I thought I booked a 4 or 5 star. Well it's not and even 3 star I would give it. My wife and I have travelled for the past 12 years to the Islands and Mex. Earlier this year(may) we travelled to Nice Fr. for a week. I stayed in various grade of hotels in the past. Would I recommend this hotel NO, not even to my worse enemy. BEWARE!!! Thank you

The massage on the beach at night was GREAT. For an extra $10 USD they will make you happy! Trust me. The food was good and the maids were a 8/10. Ask for Wanika and she will really take care of you!
