Great!!Rated:![]() by Rosa Stephens from Canada Written 8 months ago | We found Playa del Sol very nice and clean. We would definitely go back. It is also quiet and the rooms are spacious. |
by the eldredsRated:![]() by Lisa Written 3 years ago | We came to Playa Del Sol for the third week of March, 2005. We loved it. The room was beautiful with an ocean view. We were able to enjoy the beautiful sunsets from our balcony. The beachfront is very nice, and although it seems like all of the beach space is taken, there were always chairs available if you look on the beach and more were available if you ask the staff. The other guests and staff were very kind and helpful. The El Pirate resturant was delicious, especially the shrimp buritto and the chicken tacos. Muybien! The pool area makes for a nice break from the beach and the vendors. The pool is shallow, but perfect for cooling off and relaxing in. The downtown area is within walking distance where there is excelent shopping, resturants, bars, nightclubs, and entertainment to fit all price ranges. If you don't want to walk there are many cabs available at cheap prices, or busses for about 40 cents that will take you just about anywhere. You have to be careful not to get ripped off at the airport with a cab ride to Playa Del Sol. It should be about 16 to 21 dollars. It is more expensive from the airport. It may be worth it to just go right outside and deal directly with the cab driver, otherwise go to the white booth(it is supposed to be more regulated but even they have been known to overcharge). This area was amazing for the culture, beauty, and accomodations. I would reccomend this to anyone! Buenos Dias! |
Clean and SafeRated:![]() by Ron and Irene Written 3 years ago | Best rooms are the fourth floor ocean front. The extra money for ocean front is well worth it. Excellent security, 100% cleaned every day, no bugs; filtered tap water. Quiet airconditioning system, new appliances. You can safely leave your balcony door open all night. Bed linens are changed every day. Next door to the Hotel Tropicana.
20 minute walk along the beach to the Malecon. Restaurant for buffet breakfast is poor, main purpose is for the time share sales people. But there are very good restuarants on the beach or very inexpensive restaurants for breakfast or lunch all within 5 minute walk. 30 peso ride south to fantastic La Playita restaurant at Lindo Mar Condo -- an older condo in the same company. Negatives: As in all of PV, it seems the beds are exceptionally hard, and it takes two days to adjust. The sofabed for second couple is awful, like all sofabeds. Rent two bedroom suite if you are two couples. There is a time share operation conducted out of the hotel, and they don't pay much for the 3 hours of high pressure you get to experience. However, it is not required to attend presentation. Shortage of beach chairs which are all gone by 930 am. Pools is too shallow and short for serious swimming. We would defintely stay there again as the negatives are far outweighed by the positives.

Great tacosRated:![]() by Pasin family Written 3 years ago | We stayed at the Playa del Sol from October 25 to Nov. 6, 2004. We had a nice two bedroom unit that was spacious and had a full kitchen with washer and dryer. The only things we didn't like were that this unit, #309C, faced east and didn't have a ocean view and we had to climb up 45 steps to get to the room. That was a tough climb for seniors to make in the heat of the day. The restaurant el Pirate had great fish and shrimp tacos for only 15 pesos apiece. Vendors on the beach were a continual hassle but we enjoyed the fresh pastries sold by one of the vendors. Although the pool is small and only 1 meter deep, it was seldom used by many people at a time and was a great place to cool off. It was a little cool in the mornings but warmed up in the afternoon, but wasn't as warm as the ocean. There are lots of great places to eat nearby, ATMs are nearby, the pier is nearby to catch the water taxi to Yelapa, overall a great location. Taxis from the airport started at $38 but we finally were able to talk them down to $28. Overpriced for a 20 minute ride. The taxi ride back from the hotel only cost 80 pesos (just a little over $7 at the ll.2 pesos/dollar exchange rate. Great food and drinks at the Sand Bar Seafood restaurant a block inland from the pier on Basillio Badillo Street and from the corner table you can watch the sunset while enjoying happy hour drinks. |
Fabulous hotelRated:![]() by Fred P Written 3 years ago | We recently stayed at the Playa del Sol on Los Muertos Beach and were more than happy with our stay. The facilities are perfect-- I would say the best I've ever stayed in as the suites are all one bedroom with full kitchen facilites and better cable than at home for those times you want to just relax inside. The beach is the main draw with an ample amount of palapas and gorgeous ocean for swimming. I can't say enough good things about Playa del Sol! |
Don't go hereRated:![]() by The "lawyer" Written 3 years ago | Went to a time share presentation here at Playa del Sol. I would rate the facilities at about 2 and 1/2 stars out of 5. To pay that much money to vacation, why do you want something you could rent just about anytime anywhere for a lower price? If you hate the big hotels, and like the "ordinary", and have no problem overpaying, buy here. After about 3 hours and saying "no" about 20 times, I got the last sales person to practically cross the table and threathen me. He was a neanderthal and it was actually funny. Waste of three hours. The pool is about the size of a large jacuzi (Our timeshare in Breckenridge CO has no less than three Jacuzis that are larger than this pool. Thats the truth. Big woop. |
very nice new and spaciousRated:![]() by Simon Written 4 years ago | great service, freindly staff, nice location and beach, everything was easy
and no problems. |
Very nice propertyRated:![]() by John Hoffman Written 4 years ago | This is a very nice condo complex near Playa de los Muertos. This is in the area of PV away from the big hotels. The cobblestone streets and many nice restaurants are nice. Property is right on the beach, with great views from the units. I've rented 2 units, and both were beautifully decorated and very clean. Pool is small. Restaurant isn't good, and used mostly as a time-share trap; beware of nearly everyone working the time-share deals. I love Playa del Sol and will be happy to return again. |
