Karen MifflinRated:![]() by Karen Mifflin from Canada Written 2 months ago | If you are expecting a four star accomodation you will be disappointed. The staff are most friendly and courteous. You can only have one bottle of water for your room for the whole week!! The beach is almost non existent they tell me since the hurricane. There is a terrible odour in the rooms I was in which they covered the drain with a plastic plug when I asked about it. There is a drive for membership in their time share but they don't call it a time share. They said one and a half hours so I bit to see what it was all about and had to be agressive to escape after two and a half hours. In the dining room getting a drink is a challenge. It seems as though there is an attempt to conserve as drinks aren't available there unless you ask and then they bring about six ounces of your choice beverage and have to be agressive to get another. This hotel is tryng very hard but it is not a four star and when you pay for a four star I think you should get one. |
Beautiful MexicoRated:![]() by Brian from Canada Written 2 months ago | We stayed at the Grand Pelicano's(2) Feb07-14 2008. Everything was fine clean pools, clean rooms, great staff, good food and nice selection. The location is great because its only $5 to $7 dollars for a cab ride downtown or to the marina. The grounds are well kept and its a nice little walk from one hotel to the other. The entertainment was good. I would go back in a heart beat. Bring the vendors on the beach a coca cola they appreciate it.... |
No help for the sickRated:![]() by Dan Little from Canada Written 2 months ago | I had eaten only at the hotel for the last few days of our stay and got sick the last night there. The hotel did call a doctor for me first thing in the morning and the doctor said I had food poisoning. He gave me a shot and some antibiotics and I was fine to travel the next day. The hotel would not offer any compensation and charged the full rate for an additional day. i also had to fly home by regular airline so lost my return charter fare plus was out of pocket for the return flight, doctor and meds. About a $2000.00 lesson. |
Going Back!Rated:![]() by Connor from Canada Written 3 months ago | During our stay at Hotel Plaza Pelicanos, we had a great time! Every day we were excited to get up and have more and more fun every day! If you go to the Pelicanos, a week is not long enough so I would recommend to bood for two weeks. We will be comming back to Puerto Vallarta for our 5 time and we will be staying at the hotel Pelicanos! Thanks to Sergieo, Armendo, and Luceario that made the vacation so fun for our kids! |
Good StuffRated:![]() by Gerald Thibodeau from Canada Written 3 months ago | Well I really did not want to go to Mexico and from some of the reviews I have seen posted on different sites, I did not think I would like the resort..... Hats off to Mexico, the people and the Resort.
Desk Staff... Always pleasant and very very helpful Wake up call... Called down and asked for wake up calls on 4 differnet occasions. All polite except for once where the worker was extremly rude. Bartending Staff... All very polite and never a problem. Towel Staff... Only had one occasion out of 4 trips to have the towel changed. I was ignored for about 15 minutes while he talked to a co-worker and even though I said excuse me numerous times, he didn't even look my way until he was ready to do so. No Hi, Bye or even a thank you. Restaurant Staff... Great ! Our Air Canada Rep.... Great ! Housekeeping Staff and Grounds Staff... hard working, friendly and polite. Going out with the Resort Staff... Watch out and be careful with this one. Each night the resort has some entertainment staff members organize a going out club night. For a reasonable price you can go out and it includes Taxi, A couple of drinks and Club Entry. Well, We got screwed out of our taxi fair as we had to pay it (Twice)... our friends never got their free drinks and the organizer was more interested in picking up one of the hotel guests by getting her drunk as he could. It was awful to watch but he got what he went after. What could have been a good time by all and great a service the hotels provides was ruined by one individual... If you have a daughter that plans on going to this resort, you should be very aware of this. If you plan to use this service make sure that your taxi gets paid for ( As you paid for it ) and make sure you get your drinks and admission. Better choice would be to grab a cab and just go yourself. ENOUGH SAID ON THIS SUBJECT Pools... all were clean as clean could be Food... Great but limited selection Tips.. Welcomed but man they don't hound you for it... This was a nice change from any resort we have been at |
2star resortRated:![]() by monty from canada Written 3 months ago | We stayed from Jan 6- 15 2008. 70% of resort was sick patrons and staff. Sick with fevers and coming out of both ends. Some small children were admitted to hospital. HEALTH DEPT removed lots of stuff from all the resturants. cheeses ,mushrooms sauces etc. The hotel had doctors on call and gave out meds, which was nice of them . But lots of patrons spent most of their vacation bed ridon some lost out on activaties such as tours that were paid for. The management denied any knowledge until it was so large a scale 2-3 hundred people sick. The hotel offerd NO restatution or anything when aproached by lots of angry patrons. Holiday from Hell |

Wish we were there stillRated:![]() by mitch from usa Written 4 months ago | There are currently two sections at the Pelicanos; we stayed at the nicer of the two, II, but one can use facilities at either location. The accommodations were pleasing and staff were accomodating. The omnipresent time share sales people were low-key and eventually blended into the background. The all-inclusive food amenities were ample and tasty, but venturing into downtown or Old Vallarta is a must for a step-up from buffet cuisine. Try the bed cabanas for the ultimate beach side relaxation experience. Re tours, we found the popular Vallarta Adventures to be too crowded; consult guide books, reviewers' comments, or your concierge's guidance to find a good outfitter. Pelicanos is well-located, not far from any popular local destinataion. Walk or take a taxi anywhere for $4-$6 usd. |
