Ghetto-way Club is fine if you're just there to sleep

Visited Puerto Vallarta for the first time in April. Had a great time, but not at the hotel. The first room they showed us was moldy, had no ocean view and smelled. We 'upgraded' to a non-toxic room - I suppose this is part of the plan, they show you crap and require the upgrade (can't recall how much it cost, but whatever it was, it was WORTH it).
Customer service was okay - no complaints there (except for the whole room upgrade thing - I call shennanigans!). The food was horrifying. Appeared to be a fun place for the young 20s straight crowd, but we could tell there were a few older people around who had the constant expression "this is NOT what we signed up for". The no kid’s things were great. The view was fine. It was a bit of a cab ride to the downtown area, though - we spent a LOT of time in cabs getting away from the Getaway (or Ghetto-way) Club.
I would only recommend this place to early to mid 20s straight people on a strict budget and zero ambition.

Although the resort requires many upgrades, the staffs were friendly and the location is great. We were able to walk five blocks to find a great sports bar ¨Casa Blakes¨ where the food is fresh and homemade. Mike and Sue made us feel at home and we tried some great Tequila, free no less.

Bad food, bad service. Room was broken into. Cell phone and digital camera stolen. In talking to other guests, the same happened to them. The hotel staff did not seem to care and it appeared to be an inside deal, as there was no forced entry.

This was our third visit to PV and our first to Getaway. The food was less than average, the location and facilities were good. The pool bar should remain open in the evening. Blakes Sports Bar 5 blocks away provided us with great Hockey, entertainment and a fantastic lunch.

This Place Sucks Ass

The food, drinks, service, and hotel room suck. Getaway club is the worst resort in all of Mexico. I would not go back there if someone paid for me to go.

The food was terrible, the rooms were run down, and the drinks were weak. We had a good time but i would recomend something more updated. The all inclusive wasnt worth it because you end up spending money eating out.

Although the food was boring and predicable the booze was never ending. We found a little sports bar "Casa Blakes" 4 blocks away where the food was fresh and we got our hockey and Nascar fix.

Spring Break in Puerto Vallarta

The Getaway Club was alright for what it was. The food was bad but the omelet guy has the quickest hands, biggest smile, and makes the best omeletes at the buffet. At the front desk, you have to fight for the long towels for the beach which is horrible because sometimes they deny you of those. The beach has sooo many rocks and but when on the beach....look for Antonio, the best necklace maker and jeweler ever. He is so nice with the best stuff. If you request a necklace, he will probably make it. He is the nicest guy ever "Mucho Bonito" "Let's Make a Deal" "You are my friends, if you're Happy I'm Happy."

It's Party Time

This was my first trip to Mexico and I had an absolute blast here. The 18+ made it so much better, not having large family vacations and little kids running around. I went with a group of 4 friends, we could have easily just stuck to our own group but we went around and made an effort to meet everyone staying at the resort. Just be friendly and try to meet and party with as many people as possible. IF you want to meet the fun people, everyone met at the lobby bar by 9 and drank til 1am, we pushed all the tables together and partied with everyone ranging from retired couples, to honeymooners to other college students. The food was o.k. ate at the buffet half the nights, the snack bar is awesome food, a la carte was good, went and ate at some awesome restaurants downtown (No Name: get the rack of ribs). The rooms are decent, didn't really spend much time in them as expected, you're in Mexico why do you care what your room is like? just slept and changed in there. There's ALWAYS activities going on in the pool during the day, everyone takes part in water basketball, polo, tequilla volleyball, football or just lay around and tan, drink and watch everyone play games, you never get bored. Everynight they have an organized night club to go to or you can just stay back and party in the lobby. Staff was super friendly and made sure everyone was having a good time. Could see the other resorts from our room and I would rather have watched paint dry than watched them, they looked so boring. IF you are looking to "getaway" and go have a good time then this is the place, such an awesome price but don't expect 5 star. Met so many friends here from all over North America that we still talk to, definately want to return in Feb. next year. Don't pay attention to the bad reviews these are obviously very picky, wannabe high class people that were more worried about what their beds were like than how much fun they had in Mexico.
