DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE !!!!!!!!

by Jason from Canada
Written 3 months ago
We just returned from this place and let me tell you I have been to 4 and 5 stars all inclusive resort and also 1 3 star and this place is not even a 1 star.

Here how I would spell it out.
Staff- Not one bit helpful
Food - Could not eat had to eat elsewhere
Beach- terrible especially as there are some nice beaches away from town
Rooms - okay but run down / 20 year old towels

What would I rate it out of 10 lets say - 8.

Do not go to this place. You can find much better places down there.

Good Luck.........

What an unbelievably, ridiculous charade of a semi-disgusting obnoxious rip-off- need i say more- probably not but i will- DIRTY , RUN DOWN, NOISY, UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF(FRONT DESK), CRAPPY ROOM (and no attempt to provide up-grade requests),HOMOPHOBIC- SAME OLD FOOD EVERYDAY-- DIRTY BEACH- OLD HOLEY TOWELS, WATERED-DOWN DRINKS-OBNOXIOUS KARAOKE HOSTS: MADE SEXIST REMARKS- WERE TRYING TO BE COOL BUT WERE JUST ANNOYING- PATHETIC

DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR-- DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE- IT WILL RUIN YOUR HARD-EARNED VACATION
I SENT A MESSAGE TO MY TRAVEL AGENCY TO TELL THEM ABOUT THIS FIASCO- THEY DIDN'T RESPOND- WHAT A SURPRISE!!

You get what you pay for

I highly recommend paying more to stay somewhere nicer! This place is basic and very little in terms of variety and entertainment. The food and drink was very basic so we ate out most of the time. The beach is horrible and the area, including the "resort" itself is not safe. The security guards are not to be seen and the phones don't work. The rooms were ok for what you pay, it's not the Hilton so don't expect anything!

Personally in terms of safety it was NOT WORTH it. The Sunwing people were very accomodating and some of the hotel staff was too. You can't blame them for the facilities.

Book at the Holiday Inn next door!

if you want the Hilton this ain't it

some common in room extras are not included here
in room coffee, shampoo(available in the gift shop).Staff is very friendly ,food is ok (the best breakfast is from the "omelet lady" at the back of the dining room with eggs to order and french toast . the place could use a lot of cosmetic maintenance ,but all the important stuff seemed to work ok (if you get up too early and there's no hot water just let it run 'til there is).Age range when we were there Feb 1-8 /08 20's - 60's ,during spring break it's younger.Overall ok just average digs with average people I'd go again .

I got more then i payed for

I made a mistake and i booked before reading reviews of where i was going. But the price was great and i would be in mexico for the first time.I went by myself and i am glad this is the place i stayed. Food was not a big deal to me as i did not go there to get fat, the fish and the rice were awesome enough for me and always topped off with great fresh fruit. Breakfast was always great and nice to sit loking at the ocean in the morning or early afternoon, hee hee, remember its also a great party place. Thats another thing i liked about the getaway club, we sat playing guitar in the lounge till early hours in the morning and no complaints, hence party place, it was fun to watch people come home from downtown at the early hours, they would just join in on the fun. The staff would always keep you doing something active ,if just watching,it was exersize.Remember its a adault club. It was always a nice walk downtown, far enough away from the crowds yet close enough when you want to go out and enjoy the night life. You get both worlds here. So in all i give thumbs up to my vacation there and i am already looking for a booking in april.

Not so bad after all

I just got back a week ago.And I read some comments before I went.

I wonder, if it matters what time of year you go.

I went with my friend for one week in January. We upgrated to an ocean room the second day, and that was cleaned every day. Yes, some towels has holes in them, but that did not bother me. The food was not all that bad, yes it could improve. Always fresh fruit and veggies. Staff always went out to please you, and were working very hard. This was my first time at the Getaway, so my expectations were not to great, after reading some of the comments. The grounds could be upgrated big time....

I was completley appalled at some guests behaviour. Acting like they are the only ones there, being drunk and extremely abnoctious.

So get a grip on your behaviour, to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

Location was great. Easy into town. I think I would go back again for a week.

It's a Shakedown

Just returned from a good trip. I love a good party but don't even try to say the resort was amazing. I was surprised to find a roach crawling by the salad in the buffet. We tipped our waiter and he was asking us what we needed before we were done our drinks. The security gaurd ruined it for the staff when he blackmailed us for money. We had to pay him $20 to not call the police over some dumb thing. We went to use the phone in our room and when we picked it up it had no cord. You think they could use a little imagination and switch up the food. I must say the drinking situation was full of good times.

Great Vacation.

Just got back from the Getaway club. Had a great time. Excellent location, close to everything. Its not as bad as some comments. We got an excellent deal and enjoyed it to the full. Lots of food, drinks, staff were friendly, fruit and veggies were fantastic. Overall food was good...good variety. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Never Again!

Just got back at 2am this morning so this is an up to date review! I travel every year (6 times now) to Mexico for New Years and have stayed at AI resorts all over. Yup the beds are hard as rocks (we brought a foamy but you can request one there if you insist). We had rust and pubes in our bathroom. Bedding with all kind of stains and terrible towels that were not changed unless insisted (we tip $2.00 every day to our maids). The stairs going downstairs were never swept while there and were littered with straws and ciggerate butts. Grounds were fine. Loose tiles, cracked and dirty common areas. Management staff were not interested if we were there or not. Wait staff did their jobs with a smile on their faces. There was a mixed crowd there but that week there were only 250 guests. They have shut down the 4 story building and now only have the one open. They have also shut down the snack bar area and put it in the main eating area...which was dirty as well. Food was pretty terrible so we went into town and ate most meals.

We have stayed at all sorts of resorts and have a few I would not recommend (and it was a 5 star) but this place was so sad. No money has been put back into this place at all and the new manager will not be doing it either.

This was not a party place either...(we love to party). We used it as a place to crash but still paid too much for that.

Honestly I could go on and on about the "lacking" of this resort but we had to find out for ourselves!!

We stayed at this hotel at Christmas, we are in our 50's and we took our 21, and 23 year old children there as their xmas gift. The hotel staff is terrific, there is something at this hotel for all ages, the activity personel keep the young crowd and old alike involved. It is truly a hotel where guests all mingle and become friends, we have stayed with our family in other resorts in PV, but never had as good a time as we had here. This is my husbands and my second visit here, and we love it. The food is a little repetitive, but if you went to the same smorg everyday in any resturant you would tire of it. People who complain about the food should go to a 5 star, or do not go all inclusive and eat out.
