Villa del Palmar Flamingos Category Gran Turismo

We just returned from a one week vacation at Villa del Palmar Flamingos, and will go back again. We have had the opportunity to stay in many very fine hotels and resorts, and this one ranks right up there with any of them. We had a one bedroom suite with a large balcony. It was clean and well furnished. The food in the two restaurants was good, and the service was excellent. The poolside service was much better than other resorts in which we have stayed. We had actually booked our vacation in another hotel not far from Villa del Palmar, and they were overbooked and moved us here... and were we glad!

In October we made arrangements for a 2 bedroom suite for February 17th-February 24th. The amount for our trip was deducted from our credit card the next statement. The trip was paid in full.

When we arrived to the Villa Del Palmar Flamingos, they told us they did not have any 2 bedroom suites available, and that they were over booked. We paid for a 2 bedroom suite and they told us the only thing that they had was 2 studio rooms. We brought our 13 year old daughter and her friend. We had told the parents of this 13 year old friend that she would be staying with us in a suite. That was not a possibility when we got there.

Needless to say, I stayed with the girls in one room and my husband had to stay by himself in the other one. That is not a good vacation when you can’t even sleep with your husband. The rooms were not even next to each other.

After much pressure, and constant time at the front desk, we were moved to a 1 bedroom suite after staying in the studio’s for 2 nights. (The stress is not what you want when you think you are going on a relaxing vacation). The 1 bedroom suite again was not what we paid for, but at least we could be together. The compensation that the resort gave us was breakfasts for 4 at their breakfast buffet. That totaled around $400 for the week.

It was very clear that this was a bait and switch tactic and it happens all the time at this resort. We had no recourse. We were in a foreign country with no place to go. They already got our money and they obviously didn’t care. The people at the front desk told us that this happens all the time and there was nothing they could do. The management does have control as to how many reservations are booked and what rooms are needed. It was clearly a numbers game. They got us and we were trapped.

Not only was the room situation very deplorable, but the web advertising for the place is also negligent. It advertises that the resort has 2 pools and one has a water slide. There was 1 pool and no water slide. The site also stated that it had tennis courts and it even had pictures. There are no tennis courts. We chose this resort from the description of the place on the web. It was very deceiving.

It was very clear when we got there that all they wanted to do was to fill their rooms, it didn’t matter if you got what you paid for. It was also very clear that they wanted to sell condos. With their business practice, there is absolutely no way I would buy a condo from this organization. They are unethical and dishonest.

We stayed again this year and enjoyed it even more than last. The restaurant has much improved although service could still be somewhat better for a 5* hotel. The food is very good if not excactly inexpensive.

Bucerias and Pleasant Village are also nearby with great restaurants. We brought a daughter and two young grandchildren with us. They didn't want to leave.

This is a great place to stay if you evade the time share salespersons. We own time share weeks here enen then we enjoy them.

We reserved and paid for a one bedroom suite only to find out they had over-booked and we were told "the management would decide what kind of compensation they would give us" only after we asked about a refund. They promised to call us that day. Six days later I inquired again. They said the manager had not yet made a decision, to come back to the desk. When I went back the manager "was busy". Then they said they had decided to refund $100 but had to write a letter. They couldn't find the letterhead and asked me to come back. When I went back the lady who was working this "wasn't there."

I explained the situation to a 4th person who wrote the letter and signed it and I had to sign it. He said he would put it in my file so it would be there the next day when I checked out. I asked for and got a copy of it, foruntately because the next day at check out there was no letter in the file. None of the people who had "worked the issue" were around but only because I had a signed copy of the refund did I finally get it. Deplorable service! And I felt it was quite dishonest as well.

I stayed here in November of 2005 and it was my first trip to Mexico. I went with friends and my first impression of this resort was how nice it would be to have my children with me. We were a little dissapointed with the service at dinner but daytime service and food by the pool was excellent. The pool and grounds are beautiful and we had a fantastic view of the pool and ocean from our room. It's not a "party" spot but a short taxi drive to town can fix that. My daughter is graduating from High School in June and I am returning with my boyfriend and FOUR daughters to celebrate! Can't wait.....

Beautiful and very clean hotel and property. Excellant service and food at the onsite restaurant was delicious. Brunch and dinner very economical. Happy hour Margaritas very strong! The only negative is the time share sales staff. They can be persistant, but just say no and enjoy your stay. You are a taxi ride ($5- $20)to airport, marina and downtown)Beach was great for long walks and clean.Room was quiet and clean. Housekeeping and Laundry service excellant.

Just back from our week at the Villa del Palmar Flamingos, we had a great week, the facility is fantastic, the staff is great ,the food is too expensive. We would go back in a heartbeat!!

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and it was fabulous. The service was awesome and very fast. Our room was kept very clean by the maids everyday that we were there. It is great because it is not in the hotel zone or in the city. The beach was very clean. I recommend this place for anyone. It happens to be that we are going back for our one year anniversary.

Spent 3 weeks here in october/november.Even better than last year now all costruction work completed.Outstanding service esp from Victor in reception. Tried new restaurants in Bucerias. Great value. Back next year.

Top of the chart facilities, and great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Food is better than average, but could still use some work, a 7 out of 10 on my radar. The only down parts are that there are not enough activities for children and teenagers and it is a bit pricy for not being a top of the chart hotel. Overall though, very relaxing and comforting. Great place to get away from the world.
